As new technologies become intertwined into every part of our daily lives, a number of common skills are slowly fading away. Many people no longer read analog clocks with ease, fewer and fewer can recall phone numbers from memory, mental math is often replaced by calculators or smartphones, navigating with a paper map has become rare, and handwriting is used less as typing becomes the default.
For example, think about memorizing phone numbers: even today I can recall the numbers of my close childhood friends. Today we rely so heavily on our devices that many of us don’t know even a single number by heart, and our phones have become our external memory.
As technology continues to advance, what other skills do you think are disappearing?
