Lao Tzu once said, “If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.” Our minds constantly shift between past regrets and future worries, often fueling emotions like anxiety and sadness. The key to balance is grounding ourselves in the present.
One effective way to do this is through meditation, which helps train the mind to stay in the now. I also find that engaging in activities requiring full concentration, like problem-solving at work or rock climbing, where every move demands attention, naturally brings me into the present moment.
How do you stay focused on the present?
